Dr. Vonnie Nguyen earned her Bachelor of Science in Biological Sciences from the University of California, Irvine. After graduation, she spent four years working as a veterinary assistant before pursuing her Doctor Veterinary Medicine degree at Western University of Health Sciences.   

Originally drawn to medicine at a young age, Dr. Nguyen discovered her passion for veterinary medicine after getting her first dog during her undergraduate years. She was inspired to become a veterinarian when she realized she could combine her love of animals with her interest in medicine. 

Dr. Nguyen has a particular interest in diagnostic imaging and internal medicine and hopes to pursue a residency in diagnostic imaging. In June 2026, she joined the GCVS Houston team as a Rotating Intern, where she is gaining advanced training and experience across a variety of specialty and emergency services.   

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Nguyen enjoys Pilates and Lagree fitness classes, reading, and traveling. She is also a self-proclaimed foodie who loves discovering new restaurants and cuisines. At home, she stays busy with her three dogs, Mochi, Kira, and Tofu, and her recently adopted cat, Miso.
