Avian & Exotics Specialty Intern (DVM)
Stephanie Lopez
Dr. Stephanie Lopez earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-Veterinary Medicine from the University of Massachusetts Amherst before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Missouri. After completing a Small Animal Rotating Internship at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists, she remained at GCVS to continue her advanced training as an Avian & Exotics Specialty Intern in 2026.
Dr. Lopez was drawn to veterinary medicine because it combines her love of animals, medicine, and people. She hopes to pursue a career in zoo medicine and has additional interests in pathology, animal behavior, and the growing field of critical care. She enjoys the opportunity to care for a wide variety of species while continuing to expand her knowledge and skills.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Lopez enjoys cooking, trying new restaurants, playing video games, and solving Sudoku puzzles. She shares her home with two adopted GCVS pets: Randy, a hamster, and Nimbus, a former GCVS feline blood donor.
