Rachel Cain
Dr. Rachel Cain joined Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in August 2025 as a residency-trained veterinarian in Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation. She brings a wealth of expertise in integrative therapies, with certifications in rehabilitation, chiropractic, and acupuncture.
Dr. Cain completed her Sports Medicine and Rehabilitation residency at the University of Tennessee in July 2025, following her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University in 2017. Before becoming a veterinarian, she worked as a registered veterinary technician and in veterinary pharmaceutical and equipment sales—experiences that deepened her understanding of the profession and ultimately inspired her to pursue her dream of becoming a doctor. Her career path reflects a lifelong commitment to animals and her passion for improving their comfort, mobility, and overall well-being.
She holds advanced certifications as a Certified Canine and Equine Rehabilitation Practitioner, Certified Animal Chiropractor, and Certified Veterinary Acupuncturist, and she is currently completing her certification as a Veterinary Pain Practitioner. Her clinical interests include pain management, diagnostic musculoskeletal ultrasound, chiropractic, and myofascial release techniques.
Outside of GCVS, Dr. Cain embraces the outdoors through hiking, paddleboarding, and horseback riding, and she has a deep appreciation for the arts, including the symphony, theatre, and live performances. As a lifelong advocate for animal rights and environmental protection, Dr. Cain has been a vegetarian since the age of 10. At home, she is surrounded by a lively animal family: an Arabian horse, two Dobermans, four black cats, and a rabbit affectionately named Attila (“Attila the Bun”).
