Diagnostic Imaging Resident (DVM)
Nina Marchell
Dr. Nina Marchell earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2023 from Colorado State University College of Veterinary Medicine and the University of Alaska-Fairbanks in a 2+2 combined program. Driven by a deep interest in imaging’s critical role across all veterinary specialties, she completed both a Small Animal Rotating Internship (2024) and a Diagnostic Imaging Internship (2025) at Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists before beginning her residency in July 2025.
Originally from West Palm Beach, Florida, Dr. Marchell’s journey into veterinary medicine began early, through volunteering in shelters, assisting in local animal clinics, and conducting research as an undergraduate at Kansas State University. Her passion was sparked by witnessing the impact of the human-animal bond during nursing home visits with her childhood dog, Kipper, through a pet therapy program.
Dr. Marchell is particularly drawn to diagnostic imaging for its interdisciplinary nature and the intellectual challenge of piecing together subtle clues to form a complete diagnostic picture. She thrives on the critical thinking and attention to detail the field demands.
Outside of work, Dr. Marchell enjoys playing pickleball, crocheting, reading, traveling, and exploring Houston’s vibrant food scene. She shares her home with Kai, her senior cat who loves outdoor walks.
