Nick Ayers

Dr. Nick Ayers earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine in the Caribbean, following his Bachelor’s degrees in Biology and Chemistry from Auburn University at Montgomery. In 2025, Dr. Ayers joined Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists as an Avian & Exotics specialty intern.

Dr. Ayers journey in veterinary medicine began in high school, first shadowing veterinarians and later working as a veterinary assistant before being accepted into veterinary school. Inspired from a young age by The Crocodile Hunter and Steve Irwin, Dr. Ayers knew he wanted to work with zoo and exotic animals. Combining his passion for wildlife with his interest in science and medicine, he pursued a career in veterinary medicine with a focus on Avian & Exotics species. While completing his DVM in the Caribbean, he volunteered extensively with the St. Kitts Sea Turtle Monitoring Network, fueling his dedication to aquatic animal health and conservation.

Outside of work, he is an avid scuba diver and enjoys reading, discovering new shows, playing video games, exploring new destinations, and spending time with friends and family. Although he does not currently have any pets, he is confident one will find its way into his home soon. A fun fact about Dr. Ayers is that he is half German and speaks the language fluently!
