Avian & Exotics Specialty Intern (DVM)

Megan Hamilton

Dr. Megan Hamilton earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Ecology, with a minor in Animal Science, from Iowa State University before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from Kansas State University. While in veterinary school, she also earned a Certificate in Zoological Exotics and Wildlife Medicine. In 2026, she joined Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists as an Avian & Exotics Specialty Intern.

Dr. Hamilton has been fascinated by exotic and zoo animals since she was young. As her interest in medicine grew, veterinary medicine became the perfect way to combine both passions. Through her specialty internship, she is continuing her training with the goal of becoming a specialist in exotic zoo and wildlife medicine.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Hamilton enjoys reading, gaming, thrifting, visiting breweries and coffee shops, and exploring museums. She shares her home with her orange tabby cat, Biscuit.
