Dr. Maddie Ackerson earned her undergraduate degree from Georgia College State University before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia in 2026. In June 2026, she joined Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists as a Rotating Intern, where she is expanding her clinical training across a wide range of specialty and emergency services.  

Dr. Ackerson was drawn to veterinary medicine by the opportunity to combine science, problem-solving, and compassion to help patients recover while educating pet owners about their companions’ health. She has a special interest in internal medicine, particularly endocrinology and the management of diabetes mellitus, and looks forward to continuing to explore the field throughout her internship.  

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Ackerson enjoys tackling DIY projects and crafts, exploring new restaurants, and discovering local coffee shops. She shares her home with her 14-year-old dog, Ribsy, and her two orange cats, Zander and Sally.
