Kasey Poynter
Dr. Kasey Poynter earned her undergraduate degree from Auburn University in 2021 before pursuing her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree at St. George’s University School of Veterinary Medicine in Grenada. She completed her clinical year at Louisiana State University and earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree in 2026.
In June 2026, Dr. Poynter joined Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists as a Rotating Intern, where she is gaining hands-on experience across a wide range of specialty and emergency services. A Houston native, she has always felt a strong connection to animals and knew from an early age that she wanted to become a veterinarian.
Dr. Poynter was drawn to the variety of career paths within veterinary medicine but found her passion for emergency medicine, where every shift brings a new challenge. She enjoys the fast-paced environment, the opportunity to solve complex medical cases, and the chance to support pets and their families during some of their most difficult moments. She also has a special interest in wildlife medicine, particularly working with raptors, as well as exotic medicine.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Poynter enjoys birding, painting, free sketching, and training for her first HYROX competition. She loves traveling, trying new restaurants—especially seafood and Italian cuisine, and attending concerts. At home, she has a pocket beagle named Paisley.
