Avian & Exotics House Officer (DVM)
Jeffrey Turn
Dr. Jeffrey Turn earned his Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of Georgia after completing a biology degree at the Harriet L. Wilkes Honors College of Florida Atlantic University. He completed a small animal rotating internship at BluePearl in Tampa before joining Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists in 2025 as an Avian & Exotics House Officer.
Dr. Turn’s passion for animals began in childhood and was inspired by naturalists like Steve Irwin, Jack Hanna, and Charles Darwin. He has a strong interest in zoological and aquatic species and has completed externships at institutions including Busch Gardens Tampa, Brevard Zoo, Institute for Marine Mammals, Philadelphia Zoo, Central Florida Zoo, and Loggerhead Sea Turtle Center. His professional interests include avian and aquatic medicine, zoo animal care, and apitherapy—the use of bee-derived products in veterinary care.
Outside of the hospital, Dr. Turn enjoys hiking, swimming, singing, traveling, and all things Lord of the Rings. He also has a passion for computer game design and coding, and is currently writing his own animal encyclopedia. He shares his home with Bjorn, a rescued veiled chameleon who was discovered in the parking lot of an IKEA.
