Helen Onuffer

Dr. Helen Onuffer earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Ecology, Behavior, and Evolution from the University of California, Los Angeles before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from the University of California, Davis. She then completed a Small Animal Rotating Internship at Iowa State University before joining Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists as a Dermatology Specialty Intern in 2026.  

Originally from California, Dr. Onuffer enjoys the hands-on nature of veterinary medicine and the opportunity to build lasting relationships with both patients and their families. She has a special interest in dermatology and hopes to pursue a residency in the specialty. Dr. Onuffer believes the impact of skin disease is often underestimated and is passionate about helping pets find long-term relief, improving their quality of life through individualized treatment plans.  

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Onuffer enjoys traveling, hiking, practicing yoga, swimming, and baking. She shares her home with Astrid, a cross-eyed, polydactyl cat with 24 toes who keeps life entertaining.
