Surgery House Officer (DVM)

Emily Durocher

Dr. Emily Durocher earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Columbia College in 2018, followed by her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia in 2023. She then completed a rotating internship at Michigan State University and a surgical specialty internship at Nashville Veterinary Specialists before joining GCVS in 2025 as a Surgery House Officer.

Dr. Burocher’s journey into veterinary medicine began during her undergraduate studies, when she volunteered on a spay/neuter trip to Nicaragua. This hands-on experience, combined with a year working as a surgery scrub assistant at a specialty hospital in her hometown, solidified her passion for the field. Drawn to the direct, hands-on nature of surgery and the ability to make a tangible difference in the lives of animals and their families, she found her calling in the surgical discipline. She also has a strong interest in cardiophysiology and an enthusiasm for teaching and mentoring others in the field.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. Durocher enjoys hiking, crocheting, reading, and spending time with her dog, Tonks, and her cat, Willa. A lifelong musician, she has played the cello for over 19 years and earned a minor in music performance during her undergraduate studies.
