Avian & Exotics Resident (DVM)

Ana D. González Colón

Dr. Ana D. González Colón earned her Bachelor of Science degree in Biology from the University of Puerto Rico, Cayey Campus, before receiving her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree from The Ohio State University College of Veterinary Medicine. She then completed a one-year Avian & Exotics Specialty Internship at MedVet Hilliard in Ohio before joining Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists as an Avian & Exotics Resident in 2026.

Dr. González Colón’s passion for exotic animal medicine stems from her fascination with the incredible diversity of species the field encompasses. She enjoys the challenge of understanding the unique anatomy, physiology, and behavior of different animals and appreciates the critical thinking and problem-solving required to diagnose and treat a wide variety of exotic patients. Originally from Puerto Rico, she is bilingual in both English and Spanish and enjoys connecting with families from diverse backgrounds.

Outside of the hospital, Dr. González Colón enjoys hiking, taking road trips, visiting rivers and beaches, traveling, and exploring new restaurants and cuisines. At home, she loves spending time with her two cats, Lucas and Penelope, as well as with her family and friends.
