Lauren E. Ellender, DVM
Dr. Lauren E. Ellender is from New Orleans, LA and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Animal Science from L.S.U. in 1994. Dr. Ellender worked in environmental laboratory analytics prior to her journey through the Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine program in January of 2000. Ross U-SVM allowed her to attend her final year of clinical training at Auburn University CVM from 2002-2003. After graduation, Dr. Ellender finished a post-doctorate training internship for one year in Small Animal Medicine and Surgery at two distinguished Long Island referral practices, also in New York. Upon completion, she returned to her hometown as a general practitioner. Dr. Ellender has worked in multiple types of facilities including general practice, rescue, emergency rescue, referral, shelter, and advanced 24-hour care hospitals. Her diverse work includes the special care needed with professional service dogs associated with MTA, TPSO, SJPSO, and the US Customs and Border Patrol Narcotics Canine Division. Dr. Ellender spent eight years at Riverland’s Animal Hospital in La Place, LA as one of two full-time ER overnight veterinarians. During this time, she also had the opportunity to expand her base knowledge and experiences working with and for other local practices keeping in step with the latest general practice recommendations. Dr. Ellender’s professional interests include preventative medicine, internal/geriatric medicine, emergency medicine, diagnostic imaging, and surgery. Dr. Ellender is a member of the American Veterinary Medical Association, the American Animal Hospital Association, and the Louisiana State Board of Veterinary Medicine. Dr. Ellender has been the Vice President of the Terrebonne Parish chapter of Keep Terrebonne Beautiful since 2006 and enjoys being involved in the community. In her spare time, Dr. Ellender also enjoys gardening, birding, saltwater fishing, and spending time with her boyfriend and dogs, Gus, Poppy, and Marie LaVeau.
