Veterinary Technician – Dermatology & Allergy

Gulf Coast Veterinary Specialists provides the highest quality, most comprehensive specialized care for companion animals using technologically advanced diagnostic and therapeutic equipment along with a group of dedicated veterinary specialists and staff in cardiology, critical care, dermatology, diagnostic imaging, internal medicine, nutrition, and oncology. We are seeking a candidate to fill a full time, permanent position as a Dermatology Technician (DT) for our progressive and technologically advanced Veterinary Specialty Practice. Candidates must be available to work Monday-Friday between the hours of 7am-6pm with some weekends. It is the responsibility of the DT to maintain the communication lines between the doctor and client, provide daily financial and medical updates on all in-hospital patients, and handle client phone calls and questions. A DCT must also manage the doctor’s appointments, schedule the doctor’s procedures, and oversee patient treatments. They are responsible for monitoring and treating patients, keeping detailed records for in or out patients when needed and preparing procedures when needed. Superior communication skills and excellent client service skills are paramount. The DCT must be willing to go the extra mile for the clients and patients, and have a “Can Do” attitude. Qualified candidates must have a high school diploma (or equivalent) and 2 years’ experience in a veterinary clinic environment. Previous experience in administering medications, phlebotomy, anesthesia monitoring and recovery, collection and reading of cytologies are a must.
