These preoperative
radiographs taken 8 months after the accidental gunshot injury
show the hips and knees (left picture). The middle and right
image are close-up views of the knee.
These postoperative
radiographs show the knee with the implants in place. A metal
augment was custom made to replace missing bone. Exact plastic
duplicate models of the bone were made preoperatively from CT
scan digital image data. That information and the models were
used to confirm the engineering precision of the prosthesis and
to rehearse the surgery.
