Over the past five years, arthroscopy has become what many
consider the fastest growing subspecialty in small animal orthopedics.
The advantages of arthroscopy are obvious, including minimal scaring,
decreased pain, earlier return to function, and, most importantly, more
precise and accurate treatment. Arthroscopy is used in the
shoulder,
elbow, carpus,
hip,
stifle and
tarsus of dogs and cats.
Gulf Coast Veterinary
Surgery, Orthopedics & Neurology has been instrumental in
the growth of veterinary arthroscopy and currently supports the largest
arthroscopy caseload in the country. They utilize the latest in
arthroscopy equipment to provide state of the art care. Drs.
Wayne Whitney and
Brian Beale have been instrumental in providing both national and
international arthroscopy instructional courses and lectures and have
recently co-authored the first textbook on small animal arthroscopy.
