Dermatology & Allergy

The skin is considered the largest organ in the body. Animals are susceptible to a variety of skin disorders including allergies, ectoparasites, bacterial and fungal infections, hereditary and congenital diseases, chronic ear infections, diseases of the feet, footpads and nails, autoimmune skin diseases, endocrine (hormonal) disorders, and skin cancer. When a skin or ear disorder fails to respond to traditional treatment, we are available to provide the latest technology in the diagnosis and treatment of these disorders.
Working closely with your primary care veterinarian, our dermatologists perform many specialized diagnostic procedures including intradermal skin testing and immunotherapy, examination of the middle ear using a fiber-optic otoscope, laser surgery, skin biopsy sampling and histopathology interpretation.
Animal dermatology disorders and allergies are complicated and complex diseases that may warrant specialized knowledge and experience. As a specialty referral service, Gulf Coast Veterinary Dermatology & Allergy is committed to working with your family veterinarian in an integrated team approach to better serve you and your pet.
